This is a draft template, not legal advice. It describes what GarmentDNA actually does today, but hasn't been reviewed by a solicitor. Have one check it against UK GDPR / the Data Protection Act 2018 before relying on it commercially.

GarmentDNA ("we", "us") measures clothing from photos so you can find items that fit. This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

Garment photos you upload, and the measurements our computer-vision pipeline derives from them.
A closet identifier — a random ID stored in a cookie on your device so your scans are private to you. No account or personal details are required to use the scanner.
Your email address, only if you choose to use "sync this closet to another device" — used solely to send you a one-time sign-in link and to link your closet to that address.
Basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) via anonymous analytics (Plausible, which does not use cookies or track individuals) and, if something breaks and error monitoring is enabled, a report sent to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry).

Why we collect it

To provide the core service — turning your photo into a measurement and a size verdict — and to keep the product working (diagnosing errors, understanding usage at an aggregate level). We do not sell your data, and we do not use your photos to train third-party AI models beyond the specific, per-request use described below.

Third parties

Anthropic (Claude) — if you paste in a size chart, its text (not your photos) may be sent to Anthropic's API to structure it into numbers.
eBay — if you search for secondhand items and this integration is configured, your search keywords (garment category, gender, size — not your photos or measurements) are sent to eBay's Browse API; otherwise the search is just a link out to eBay's own site.
Vinted / Depop — resale search buttons link out to their sites; we don't share any of your data with them directly.
Resend — sends the sign-in email if you use the sync feature.
Sentry / Plausible — error monitoring and anonymous analytics.
Fly.io — hosts the app and database, in London (UK/EU).

How long we keep it

Garments and photos are kept until you delete them from your closet (which permanently deletes the photo file too). If you signed in with an email, your closet is kept until you ask us to delete it — contact us using the details below.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. Deleting a garment in the app does this immediately and permanently. For anything else — including deleting an entire email-linked account — email us and we'll action it promptly.
